Your Materialistic Lifestyle is Killing You!!
Do you hate your job and your life? Do you have a house full of stuff? You work so that you can buy things and it’s those things that keep you chained to that desk working. Your materialistic lifestyle is killing you. Buying more stuff is associated with depression, anxiety and broken relationships. It is socially destructive and self-destructive
“The best things in life are not things.” There is a great deal to be said about this simple but very true statement.
We all live in a materialistic society where the majority of people is more concerned with what it has than who we are. There is too much emphasis today on the brand of clothes you are wearing, what car you are driving and what you have in general. Some people look at others that live in luxury and think that they are living a happier life than theirs. This is the impression that society embeds in our heads that leads to many of us spending their lives chasing money rather than happiness. Avarice – this is the main flaw of the society we live in.
There are people who spend their lives spending money they do not have because things bring them satisfaction. It is a dangerous cycle, seeing others with something and thinking that you need the same thing to be happy or to be like them.
Our society is constantly bombarding us to buy more of that and more of the other, because we live in a society that only functions if people continue to spend. I think that if everyone were to stop and think about what they really need in life, this cycle will come to a halt.
Society wants people to work to get richer when, in reality, equality in terms of wealth is more extreme than people realise. Many are struggling to be in a position which in reality is impossible to be in. I am not saying that it is bad to have nice things, but if having them is your priority, it may be time to reassess. Our society places more value on how much money we have and materialism than on achievements and people themselves. Our achievements are assessed according to what we have. Why is this? Imagine if all this energy were focused on making the world a better place what a peaceful world we would be living in!
Unfortunately, people will always chase money and power, and those who have them will do anything to hang on to them and will do their utmost to grasp more. People were born to love. Things were created to be used. The reason our society is mired in chaos and confusion is because we love things we can consume and use people.
"Things are replaceable; people aren’t".
I am not going to tell you what the best things in life are. You decide!
Any thoughts you wish to share are welcomed.

ReplyDeleteSociety acts as a curse when it comes to superstitions .
ReplyDeleteWe have a well defined set of prejudices which reflects a person. Those are totally an illusion created by ourselves only and hence we are paying that price .
People are like mad after materialistic things which are not even necessary .
In this regard , I agree to your point that love is a necessity .
In fact love is missing from today's society which is abruptly needed ..
A basic quote from my side
But this can't match yours
Live the life you love
But love the life you live
Love and Respect
